Our process.
-
Site Analysis
Every project begins with a site. Through site analysis and contextual analysis, FDG is able to uniquely position a project within its given surrounding environment. It is about rooting a project in time and place and being sensitive to an urban landscape.
-
Market Analysis
A project exists within a site and a market. By understanding the other players and competitors, FDG can identify opportunities for diversification. FDG’s knowledge of the market provides space for innovation.
-
Conceptual Narrative
With a deep grip on the site and market, FDG then conceptualizes an identity for the project. This identity and narrative serve as the driving force behind every design decision. The conceptual narrative is the heart of the project. It is the foundation on which every idea emerges from.
-
Programming
Before beginning to design, FDG produces diagrams to assign the programming of a space. FDG considers adjacencies and circulation to optimize the most efficient and meaningful use of space.
-
Planning
FDG begins the planning phase with hand sketching to maximize the potential for creative solutions with minimum constraints. After a series of hand sketched iterations, FDG translates the plans to digital drafting to ensure accurate dimensions, spacing, and proportions.
-
Image Research
Image research fuels our inspiration for a project. FDG carefully curates images to excite and inspire the details of a project, bringing the conceptual narrative to life on every scale. Through imagery, FDG begins to paint the picture of the space’s character and personality.
-
Materials & FF&E
Thoughtful selection of materials, furniture, fixtures, and equipment illustrate how imagery is utilized throughout the space. Every material and piece of furniture is thoroughly considered to contribute to the design at large. It is the assembly of these details which result in FDG’s vision.
-
Sketching
The vision is brought to life through hand sketched perspectives and vignettes. FDG believes in the power of hand drawing to reveal the highest levels of creativity and inner conscience. Hand sketching is a collaborative tool that invites the client to participate in the ideation process.
-
Rendering
Finally, the design is realized through rendering, and the vision becomes clear. The design emerges from a blank canvas to an animated dream. The rendering depicts FDG’s wild imagination. The rendering then becomes documented through detailed drawing sets that provide the blueprint for making a dream reality.
